Ihonvbere Mourns Late Chief Osamede

ABUJA – The Leader of the House of Representatives and Iseghede of Owanland, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran educationist and entertainer, Chief Sam Osamede.

In a statement signed by Samson Akhanieme, Chief Press Secretary to the House Leader, Prof. Ihonvbere described the late Chief Osamede as not only a remarkable teacher but also a dear friend whose impact transcended the classroom.

“Chief Osamede was my teacher in English Literature at Edo Boys’ High School. He was a truly great and very effective teacher of his time. Besides, he was a well-known disciplinarian, and it was this aspect of him that made us become very good friends ever since. May his soul rest in peace,” Ihonvbere said.

The lawmaker, who represents Owan Federal Constituency, recounted how their relationship blossomed over the years, noting that Chief Osamede’s mentorship and discipline helped shape his formative years.

Late Chief Osamede, a native of Afuze-Emai in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, was a respected educationist who served as a teacher, principal, and one-time Chief Inspector of Education (CIE) in the defunct Midwest and later Bendel State.

Beyond his educational career, Chief Osamede was also a celebrated entertainer, best remembered for his role as “Chief Ajas” in the popular NTA television series Hotel De Jordan during the 1970s and 1980s, a performance that earned him nationwide recognition.
