Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho found the back of the net as Celtic played out a 1-1 draw with Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade in their Europa League clash on Wednesday night.
The Nigerian international opened the scoring in the 55th minute with a composed finish, capitalising on his sharp instincts inside the box to hand the Scottish champions the lead.
Red Star, however, responded swiftly with a well-taken equaliser midway through the second half, ensuring both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils in an evenly matched contest.
The encounter, which was closely fought with limited chances after the equaliser, attracted significant attention given the European pedigree of both clubs. Celtic will nevertheless take positives from Iheanacho’s continued goalscoring form.
The goal marked Iheanacho’s second for his new club, as he works to rediscover his confidence and sharpness in front of goal following his summer move.
Celtic will now turn their focus to domestic action, where they face Hibernian on Saturday as they continue their push to defend the Scottish Premiership title.
