The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun and the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborewvori, on Wednesday performed the unveiling of the logo, mascot, and theme of the 15th Biennial Police Games at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The IGP in his address at the brief ceremony said,:
“Today is a proud moment for the Nigeria Police Force. Standing here with our leaders, partners, officers, and athletes, we are not just unveiling a mascot, we are unveiling a renewed spirit as we prepare for the 15th Nigeria Police Games in Asaba.”
He noted that, “Sports remain one of the strongest tools for building the Force we envision: disciplined, fit, focused, and connected to the communities we serve.”
The Police Games, according to Egbetokun have become a “symbol of unity and excellence,” and have continued to showcase the best of our talents and character.
According to the IGP, “This administration is intentional about raising standards. We are preserving our sporting heritage, yes, and indeed, we are elevating it. A stronger Police Force begins with stronger officers, and that is why we invest in wellness, discipline, and mental readiness. of our officers
“I extend deep appreciation to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, for hosting the 2026 Games and for the remarkable support already visible today.
“Delta State has always been a home of sporting excellence, and we are confident that Asaba will deliver a ‘Games’ worthy of our institution.
“I also acknowledge the Delta Sports Commission for its heritage of distinction, and thank the Chairman of the Force Sports Planning Committee, AIG Fom Pam Joseph, and his team for the commitment that has brought us to this point. Your work speaks for itself it is however time for us, now let us push even further.
The IGP explained that, the mascot they unveiled was not a mere symbol. “It carries our values: courage that protects, unity that binds, fitness that strengthens, and excellence that defines us, on duty and on the field.
“It is therefore my honour to present the identity of the 15th Police Games, Asaba 2026. The theme of ASABA 2026 is, “Beyond the Badge; Excellence in Action!” Slogan: “Discipline, Dignity and Dedication!”
“These ideals will guide every athlete and every officer. They remind us that we are not only competing for medals, we are representing an institution built on honour, service, and national pride.”
The IGP hopes that by the grace of God, the 2026 Police Games will set new records for the Nigeria Police Force and contribute another strong chapter to our history.
He prayed the mascot inspires the Force beyond this ceremony, and “may it remind us that true victory lies in service delivered with discipline, dignity, and dedication to the Nigerian people.”
This is as he thank all the guests for honouring their invitation.
Meanwhile, Governor Oborewvori who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu stated that, the event was aimed at celebrating unity, discipline, and excellence within the Nigeria Police Force.
He said, “It is a pleasure to join you today for the unveiling of the logo, mascot, and theme of the 15th Biennial Police Games, an event that celebrates unity, discipline, and excellence within the Nigeria Police Force.
“The Biennial Police Games have become a platform for strengthening camaraderie, discovering sporting talent, and promoting fitness and discipline among officers.
“They demonstrate the Police Forces role not only in securing the nation but also in fostering national unity and social cohesion.
“The logo we unveil today symbolises identity and pride; the mascot reflects energy and courage; and the theme speaks to friendship, brotherhood, and excellence, values that define both policing and sportsmanship.
“I commend the Inspector General of Police and the organizing committee for their dedication, and I salute the athletes who will represent the Force with honour and integrity.
“As we unveil these elements, let them remind us of our shared commitment to unity, hope, and service to our nation. Delta State is proud to host this edition of the Games, and we welcome all participants and guests to an atmosphere of peace, hospitality, and celebration.
“May the 15th Biennial Police Games inspire greatness and strengthen the bonds within our Police Force and across our nation.”
