The leadership of the Lagos
The organizers has affirmed thatthe Igbo Heritage Day scheduled to hold on October 19, 2025 at the Police College Compound, Ikeja, Lagos, will hold despite attempt by some individuals to scuttle the event.
According to Apostle Patrick Nwanze (Agu Anioma), Chairman, Organizing Committee of the event, the Ohaneze Ndigbo, Council of Ndieze Igbo, community leaders and Igbo stakeholders are aware of the problems being perpetrated against Ndigbo in Lagos by the erstwhile president of the organization. This, he said, ranged from his controversial consent judgement to his perpetuation of himself in power after end of his tenure.
He started that despite the intervention of the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Sen. John Azuta-Mbata restraining all parties from interfering in the Igbo Heritage Day Celebration, the former president went ahead to seek ways to disrupt the programme thereby challenging all Igbo and appropriate authorities.
“He went ahead to issue a threat that he would imprison any Igbo man or woman who participates in the Igbo Day programme. He offered to pay N100,000 to anyone who would assist him in disrupting the programme. This action is tantamount to urinating on the collective intelligence of Igbos in Lagos and globally,” he disclosed.
Nwanze asked all Igbo in Lagos and other parts of the world to ignore the former president, adding that the Igbo Heritage Day will still go ahead uninterrupted.
He called on distinguished guests, Ndieze Igbo, awardees, stakeholders and participants to come and assured everyone of their security.
Nwanze urged the local government chairmen, women groups, dancers and presenters to mobilize their members as planned to the venue on Sunday October 19, 2025 at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos.
