“If God Gives Me Life, I’ll Be Nigeria’s President Someday” — Orji Uzor Kalu

Former Abia State Governor and current Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said that he could become Nigeria’s president at any age as long as he remains alive and healthy.

Kalu made the remark on Wednesday,  during an interview on Channels Television’s political programme, Politics Today

Speaking about his political ambition, the lawmaker said age should never be a barrier to leadership, insisting that what matters most is competence, capacity, and a genuine desire to serve.

“I’m 65 years old now. US President Donald Trump is 79.

“If I’m healthy and God gives me life, I could still be president of Nigeria,” Kalu said.

He added that leadership is about intelligence, experience, and results — not how young or old a person is.

“The question is not age. The question is competency. What is in my brain that I need to deliver? It’s not when or where. It’s rather how ready I am,” he stated.

Kalu further explained that his experience in politics and business has prepared him for any national role.

“I have managed people, I have managed resources, and I have governed a state successfully. Those are the skills Nigeria needs  not empty promises,” he said.

Emphasizing his readiness to serve, the senator noted, “If Nigerians call on me tomorrow to lead, I will not hesitate.

“My love for this country is genuine, and I believe in its unity and prosperity.”
