The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, on Wednesday, officially handed over power to the reinstated Governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara.
In his final statewide broadcast, Ibas urged Rivers people to give their full support to Fubara as he resumed his constitutional duties.
He recalled that President Bola Tinubu had suspended Fubara six months ago and declared emergency rule in the state, appointing him to steer affairs.

Addressing citizens, Ibas said: “My dear citizens of Rivers State, it’s with gratitude in my heart and humility in my spirit that I address you today for the final time as administrator of our beloved State.
“Six months ago, Tinubu entrusted me with this solemn responsibility of steering Rivers State through an extraordinary moment in its history.
“Today, I can say with conviction that the grace of God and through our collective effort the mandate has been accomplished.”
Highlighting achievements recorded under his administration, he stated that law and order had been restored, local government elections successfully conducted, and statutory boards and commissions reconstituted.
He also noted that the state budget had been passed by the National Assembly, providing a legitimate framework for governance.
Reflecting on lessons learned, Ibas warned that “the exercise of power without restraint can cripple institutions and rivalry without dialogue clearly endangers democracy.”
He then urged citizens to support Fubara wholeheartedly, stressing that leadership would only thrive with active followership.
“No matter how competent and clear a vision may be, it can only come to fruition and thrive with the active support of citizens,” Ibas declared.
