I Won’t Borrow or Incur Debt to Finance Projects — Governor Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fiscal discipline, declaring that his government will neither borrow funds nor incur debts to finance projects.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for a 16.5-kilometer asphalt road connecting Kayarda Tasha, Kayarda Gari, Unguwan Sarki, Maskawa, and Dan Alhaji towns in Lere Local Government on September 18, 2025, Sani also pledged to complete all abandoned projects inherited from previous administrations before the end of his tenure.

The governor described the road project, to be executed by a reputable contractor, as “unprecedented” in Lere Local Government, highlighting its significance for improving connectivity and economic activity in the region.

“This kind of project is unprecedented in Lere Local Government,” Sani stated, emphasizing his focus on transformative infrastructure.

Addressing the crowd, Sani outlined progress on other inherited projects in Lere, noting that the Rewa Bridge linking Gure town and the Marjeri Bridge have been completed, while the Tudai Bridge is slated for completion within one to two months.

He also detailed efforts to restore electricity supply to Yarkasuwa, Kayarda, Ramin Kura, and Mariri towns, addressing long-standing infrastructure deficits in the area.Commissioner of Environment Alhaji Abubakar Buba praised Sani as a leader who keeps his promises, citing the governor’s inclusive governance and appointments of Lere indigenes to key positions.

“The Majority Leader of Kaduna State, Hon. Munira Suleiman Tanimu, is from Lere Local Government. We are proud of our hardworking House of Representatives member, Hon. Ahmed Munir, and our dynamic Council Chairman, Hon. Jafaaru,” Buba said.

He added that Sani’s open-door policy has empowered local leaders to address community needs effectively.

House Majority Leader Munira Suleiman Tanimu recalled that the new road was a key demand from Lere residents during the 2023 election campaign, expressing gratitude for Sani’s responsiveness.

She predicted a strong showing for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, pointing to recent by-election victories in Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency and Zaria-Kewaye and Basawa State Constituencies as evidence of the party’s growing support.

Hon. Ahmed Munir, representing Lere in the House of Representatives, took a nostalgic tone, reminiscing about Sani’s early years as a standout footballer for the Saminaka Celtics in Lere’s headquarters.

“Governor Uba Sani was a good striker who scored the highest goals for his team. He will continue to be a striker in the political realm,” Munir said, drawing parallels between Sani’s athletic prowess and his leadership.

The road project and Sani’s broader commitments signal a focus on sustainable development without financial overreach, a stance that has resonated with residents wary of mounting state debts.
