A former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Gbenga Daniel, has dismissed reports that he plans to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Recall that the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had suspended Daniel and another member, Kunle Folarin, for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities.
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Nuberu Olufemi, disclosed that the suspension was intended to facilitate a thorough investigation into the allegations against the duo.
According to the State Chairman, Yemi Sanusi, in a statement, “Upon due consideration, the Committees suspended the members indefinitely, pending further investigation and the outcome of the Committees’ inquiry. Copies of the letters of indefinite suspension had been sent to the State Chairman for consideration and approval of the State Working Committee.”
Reacting in a statement by the OGD Media Office on Monday, Daniel described the claims as false and reaffirmed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress.
Daniel, who represents Ogun East Senatorial District, stressed that the purported plan to rejoin PDP is far from the truth, stressing that he remains a member of APC.
The statement reads: “For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Gbenga Daniel is and remains a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, a Senator and remains on the platform of the APC.”
