Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has opened up about her decision to undergo body enhancement surgery, saying it was motivated by her struggle with body image after childbirth.
Speaking with Saturday Beats, the mother of three explained that although she had always been naturally busty, her figure changed after having children and it affected her confidence.
According to her, the dissatisfaction grew stronger after the birth of her third child, which made her choose cosmetic surgery for the sake of her emotional and mental well-being.

“I didn’t have an hourglass shape. Starting to have babies didn’t help matters for me. I didn’t like what I saw when I looked at myself after my third child. I felt I owed it to myself to be happy and confident,” she said.
Ogbodo stressed that the decision was entirely for her own peace of mind rather than external validation.
“The surgery wasn’t for anyone else but for me, for my mental health to feel good, okay, and enough. I am enough competition for myself,” she added.
The actress also explained why she chose to be transparent about her surgery, noting that honesty is important, especially for public figures.
She pointed out that many celebrities mislead their fans by concealing procedures. “In this country, people, especially celebrities, are often not honest. You’re a role model, yet you lie to those who genuinely love you. Many undergo procedures, disappear, and then return with new bodies without admitting they worked on themselves. Why hide it when you can inspire other women with your story?” she remarked.
For Ogbodo, being open is part of her mission to inspire women struggling with self-esteem issues. She said her personal journey could serve as encouragement to others facing similar challenges.
She further revealed that her husband gave his full support for the surgery, acknowledging the struggles she faced with body image and her need to regain confidence.
