Nigerian media personality and entrepreneur Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has explained why she moved her Guinness World Record attempt to Nigeria.
The event, initially planned for the United Kingdom, aimed to set the record for the most makeovers completed in 24 hours.
During a brief break on Sunday at the Tacha Beauty Festival, held at the John Randle Centre for Yorùbá Culture and History in Lagos, Tacha spoke about her decision.

She said it was motivated by a desire to showcase Nigeria’s creative talent and the global potential of the local beauty industry.
“The plan was London. We already had plans, we had a brand that wanted to sponsor us — NYX,” she said. “But I said, London is not that country that will give me the vibe I want. Then I thought, see my people, they are here. It always makes sense to carry your country along. At this point now, I’m putting the Nigerian beauty industry on a freaking global map.”
The media personality disclosed that the project had been in the works for two years and added that now felt like the perfect time to bring it to life.
Tacha kicked off her 24-hour makeover marathon on Saturday night, with a goal of completing 150 makeovers within the timeframe.
Within the first 12 hours on Sunday, Tacha reportedly completed 115 makeovers, already topping the existing 24-hour record of 113.
The record attempt is a highlight of the ongoing Tacha Beauty Festival, held from 10 to 12 October, which showcases events celebrating beauty, creativity, and cultural heritage.
Tacha also dedicated the attempt to her late mother, explaining that much of her drive and ambition is fueled by personal inspiration.
Despite facing short power interruptions on Saturday, she carried on with her routine uninterrupted, finishing each participant’s makeover within minutes before guiding them to a photo booth and runway for showcasing.
