A Nigerian lady is heartbroken after losing a man she thought would be her husband, all because of her state of origin.
In a post shared on TikTok by Perpettual Ejeh, she explained that the relationship didn’t end because of the man himself, he didn’t mind where she was from.
The problem, she says, was his mother, who reportedly disapproved of her being from Benue State.
Perpettual shared her feelings candidly in the video, saying:
“I just lost a potential husband. Guess why? Because of my state. Because I’m from Benue state. The guy is not the issue. The guy is not even bothered about where I’m from. Guess who is bothered? The mother. I don’t know what to say. I don’t know if I should be angry or I should laugh.”
She went on to describe the heartbreak of seeing a future she had imagined with the man suddenly slip away.
Many social media users have expressed sympathy for her situation, noting that it’s common for family biases and traditional expectations to interfere with relationships in Nigeria.
A commentator said, “Family interference really ruins relationships sometimes.” Another wrote, “It’s heartbreaking to see love lost because of things you can’t control.”
Her story, shared on TikTok, has sparked conversations about love, family interference, and societal pressures in relationships.
