Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, opines that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Labour Party (LP) hold no real influence in the state, while boasting that his party defeated Peter Obi’s.
At a victory rally in Nanka to celebrate APGA’s success, Soludo argued that the elections had been framed by LP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other opposition figures as a popularity contest, but the outcome told a different story.

He criticized Obi, who had backed ADC candidates during the polls, stressing that the party lacks any significant presence in Anambra.
Soludo further ridiculed Obi by pointing out that APGA even won in Onitsha North, which he described as Obi’s own constituency.

The governor also emphasized that opposition leaders had united during the election, noting the involvement of senators and House of Representatives members, but said their efforts failed as the people of Anambra had their say.
Soludo described the election as an attempted trial run for ADC in the state but insisted that APGA’s sweeping victory, securing about 77 per cent of the votes, made a strong statement about the weakness of the opposition.
