“I Can Afford To Be A Failed Musician, Not A Failed Father” — Adekunle Gold

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has opened up about his family and personal values, revealing that his wife, Simi, and their daughter, Adejare, remain the most important part of his life.

Speaking on a recent episode of the NotJustOk podcast, posted on X on Thursday, the ‘Orente’ crooner shared that his biggest motivation is to provide a better life for his daughter than the one he experienced growing up.

He explained that his song ‘My Love Is The Same’ was inspired by his desire to be a more present and responsible father.

“All I wanted to be is to do more for my own daughter because I can’t afford to bring her to the kind of life that I grew up living. It has to be way better. And that’s why I’m working hard,” he said.

Adekunle Gold further stressed that while he could accept failure in music, failing as a husband or father is not an option.

“My family is my centre. I don’t joke with my family. I can afford to be a failed musician, not a failed father or a man. That’s not negotiable for me,” he expressed.
