Real Betis star Antony has disclosed that he was almost on the verge of joining Bayern Munich before signing for the Spanish club.

In a chat with Globo, the Brazilian international stated that he received a phone call from Vincent Kompany in the summer and was ‘very tempted’ to complete a transfer move to Bayern Munich.

“The transfer window closed the next day, around seven or eight in the evening, if I’m not mistaken, or maybe midnight. It was really the last day we were negotiating with Betis, and that’s when the call from Bayern came.”

“I’ll tell you 100% now. It really made me hesitate a lot. We’re talking about a world giant, Bayern, and coach Kompany, with his impressive experience, called me personally.

“We spoke, he was incredibly polite, said he’d always been a big fan of my game, and it was around 11pm.”
