He said that the trailer was interception around Gadar Tamburawa, Zaria – Kano Road and it was conveying the goods from Lagos en route to Maiduguri.
Sadiq added that a 37-year-old suspect, Ali Muhammad, was arrested in connection with the exhibit.
He said the eight thousand bottles of Akuskura and 408 kilos of weed were discovered hidden under the board of a trail during the operation.
Sadiq said the personnel of the agency were able to discover a bunker carefully constructed under the board of the trailer.
He added that planks of wood were laid under the board to hide the substances.
Sadiq said, “Despite this scheme using flanks and sacks of charcoal to cover the substances, our personnel were able to dig it out. The board looked originally designed by manufacturers. But the commitment of our personnel and your prayers led to the discovery.
“Even unbundling of the bunker was tedious. It beats intelligence to think that the substances would be hidden under the board of the trailer. All exhibits and the suspect are now in NDLEA custody pending further investigation and laboratory analysis to confirm the nature of the substances and determine the full scope of the operation.”
NDLEA urged the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious consignments or activity to the nearest NDLEA office or other law enforcement agency.
