Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has made a startling revelation about the alternative paths his life might have taken if he had not pursued a career in music.
In a candid interaction with a fan, Burna Boy said he could have ended up as an oil thief, a fraudster, a suicide bomber, a basketball player, or even a prostitute.
“There are many options,” he said. “I could be stealing oil, I could be playing basketball, I could be a fraudster, a suicide bomber, anything — including a prostitute.”
The singer, often outspoken about his rough upbringing and life experiences before fame, suggested that music provided him with an escape from paths that could have led to destruction.
Meanwhile, Burna Boy continues to set records internationally. His latest collaboration with American rapper Gunna, WGFT, from the album The Last Wun, debuted at number 96 on the US Billboard Hot 100 this week.
With this achievement, Burna Boy now has seven entries on the chart, cementing his place as the African artist with the most Billboard Hot 100 appearances.
He also made history as the first African artist to debut a song on the Hot 100 in five consecutive years — 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
