How you can get an iPhone 17 as a Nigerian

As a Nigerian, there are two ways of getting your iPhone. You can decide to order directly on the Apple website or use a phone vendor in Nigeria. Both are legit means with pros and cons.

Let’s start with the Apple Website. Going through this medium, you’ll order the product of your preferred taste and specification on the Apple website. Mind you, Apple will ask you to pay a separate shipping fee.

Speaking with Technext, CEO of D’Mobile Bender, Mr. Damilare Onasanya, juxtaposed the merits and demerits of both options. He explained that the shipping fee of a phone vendor is lower compared to that of Apple. He clarified that Apple will charge you the shipping fee for a single product, while a Phone Vendor, through his bulk orderings, will charge you less.

“Apple will only calculate the iPhone’s fee and separately charge for a shipping fee. But a phone vendor calculates all prices and charges at once, and this is because the vendor orders goods in bulk and deducts his total shipping fee across all the goods,” he said.

While Apple’s shipping fee means more cost, Apple will not disappoint in terms of what you ordered vs. what you got. Not that a phone vendor will give you a fish instead of meat, but you can get a ‘white Amala’ when you originally ordered ‘black Amala’. This means that in some cases, due to his bulk purchases, there can be some mix-up in colours.

Mr. Onasanya noted that when using a phone vendor, you might order a black colour and get a different one.

A phone vendor might get back and tell you they didn't get a black colour and give you blue. You have no choice but to collect it. But Apple will send exactly what you ordered,” he said.

Another alternative is having a friend or relative in the U.S. or U.K. help you with ordering and shipping. While this can make the order faster, the shipping can be delayed based on Nigerian factors.

However, deciding on the medium to get your iPhone depends on preference and suitability. If you trust your phone vendor to get your specific taste, you might want to go that route. But if you prefer to sacrifice additional cost for your convenience, ordering on the Apple website might be the best option for you.

When to expect iPhone 17 in Nigeria

Recent reports have shown that Apple products arrive in Nigeria two weeks after their announced date. While Apple said the new iPhone will be available on September 19, it’s expected to arrive in Nigeria in the first week of October.

To put various internal factors into additional consideration, Nigerians might have to wait until mid or late October for the iPhone 17’s presence.
