The Hisba Board in Kano says it has foiled an attempt to move two young women out of the state to Ghana for forced labour or commercial exploitation.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Deputy Commander General of the board, Dr Mujahideen Aminuddeen, identified the women as Zahrau Abdu, a 16 year-old from Zaria in Kaduna State, and Kalzihar Salim, an 18 year-old from Fagge in Kano.
The statement did not explain whether any suspects behind the attempted trafficking were arrested.
The board restated its resolve to confront traffickers and others engaged in activities that breach national laws and Islamic teachings.
