“He held my hand” – Female Navy applicant shares what viral Naval officer Yerima did during her Navy screening

A female Navy applicant, Splendor Emmanuel has shared her personal encounter with Lieutenant Ahmad Yerima, the naval officer who went viral after confronting FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over a land dispute in Abuja.

Splendor Emmanuel met Lt. Yerima during her Navy screening exercise in Borokiri, Port Harcourt, in 2024 and says her experience with him left a lasting impression.

Meeting Lt. Yerima at the Screening

Splendor recalled that she first came across Lt. Yerima during the 2024 Navy screening exercise.

She described him as a disciplined and professional officer whose presence commanded respect.

According to her, the parade ground would immediately fall silent whenever he walked in, even when applicants were being noisy.

A “Cracked and Parkard” Officer”

She called Lt. Yerima “a very cracked and parkard officer,” praising his ruggedness and calm demeanor.

Splendor noted that he was a man of few words, but every word he spoke carried weight.

She also admired the courage and composure he later displayed in his public clash with Minister Wike.

Running Side by Side With Him

One moment that stood out for Splendor was the endurance running exercise.

She recounted running alongside Lt. Yerima but struggling to match his pace at some point.

Seeing her fatigue, he reached out and held her hand, encouraging her to keep going.

A Source of Motivation

Splendor credited Lt. Yerima for helping her perform well during the screening.

She said his guidance and encouragement were major reasons she was able to “enter the first box” during the exercise.

In her words:

“Lt. A. M. Yerima.

A very cracked and parkard officer.

During my Navy Screening at Borokiri last year, this officer showed immense professionalism and ruggedness.

Man of little words, but when he speaks, it carries volume.

Whenever we were making noise on the parade ground and he walks in, everywhere immediately becomes silent!

When we were about going for Endurance Running, I was running side by side with him, but at some point, I couldn’t meet up with his pace. I eventually caught up, and he made sure to hold my hand when I was getting weak.

He was one of the reasons I entered the first box at the screening.

Thank you, sir, for showing the world that military is not ministry.

Keep representing, sir!”
