Happening now: Senate confirms Udeh as minister


Nigerian Senate passes 14-year jail term bill for sexual harassment offenders

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udey (SAN) as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria .

Confirmation of Udeh ‘s appointment , followed brief screening done on him by the Senate in plenary on Thursday .

Udeh who is currently the Attorney – General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State , answered all questions fired at him by Senators excellently on the strenght of which Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe ( Abia South) moved motion that he should be allowed to take a bow and go .

Accordingly, the Senate after the motion was seconded by Senator Olalere Oyewumi (Osun West), voted affirmatively .

Thereafter the President of the Senate , Godswill Akpabio , at both the committee of the whole and in plenary , put questions on Udeh’s confirmation to Senators which was unanimously voted for .
