Veteran filmmaker, actor, producer, and industry pioneer Hamisu Lamido Iyantama, has been honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 edition of the Zuma International Film Festival, organized by the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) in Abuja.
The award ceremony held at the nation’s capital, celebrated Iyantama’s decades-long contribution to Nigerian cinema, particularly his impact on socially conscious storytelling, youth development, cultural preservation, and the growth of the Northern film industry.
In his acceptance speech, Iyantama expressed deep gratitude, noting that this recognition comes at a meaningful time — under the leadership of Dr. Ali Nuhu, the first filmmaker to head the Nigerian Film Corporation.

He highlighted that this is the fourth time he has been recognized by the Nigerian Film Corporation.

That same year, the NFC sponsored his trip to Los Angeles, Santa Monica, to attend the American Film Market, the world’s largest film market.
He was later honored with the Hall of Famer Award in Lagos.
“Each recognition has strengthened my commitment to the art of filmmaking,” he added.
“Today, standing here with the Lifetime Achievement Award is a reminder that dedication and passion never go unnoticed.”
Iyantama also thanked Dr. Ali Nuhu, the festival organizers, colleagues, his family, and supporters who have contributed to his journey in the creative industry.
The Zuma International Film Festival continues to be one of Nigeria’s most important platforms for celebrating creativity, innovation, and excellence in filmmaking.
