The ongoing wave of bandit attacks in Kwara North has taken a devastating turn, as gunmen targeted Rani Ramat village in Patigi Local Government Area on Sunday evening, killing one person and abducting the village head.
According to SaharaReporters, the attack occurred around 6:20 p.m., during the Maghrib prayer, when villagers had gathered at the mosque.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers, riding motorcycles, stormed the community and began shooting indiscriminately, causing widespread panic.

During the assault, Alhaji Liman was shot dead instantly, while the assailants abducted the village head, Alhaji Ndako, and took him to an unknown location.
A local resident said the gunmen launched the attack without any warning, unleashing chaos and fear across the village.
The incident highlights the worsening security situation in the Patigi Emirate, where rural communities continue to endure repeated raids, kidnappings, and attacks.
In recent weeks, Kwara State has experienced a series of deadly bandit attacks, raising growing concerns over the safety of residents in vulnerable communities.
