Gunmen Attack BUA Factory In Edo, Kill Eight NSCDC Personnel


Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Friday night reportedly killed eight operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) attached to the BUA Cement Factory in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

According to the Punch, a senior officer of the Edo NSCDC command, who confirmed the tragic incident on Saturday, revealed that one Chinese expatriate was abducted during the attack, while security forces successfully rescued four others.

The officer further disclosed that four additional individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical attention at a yet-to-be-disclosed hospital. He added that the NSCDC headquarters in Abuja would issue an official statement on the development.

“Eight of our personnel were indeed killed by the kidnappers, but an official statement will be made available later today in Abuja. The incident occurred on Friday, August 5, 2025, around 10 p.m., when our officers were escorting five Chinese expatriates after their routine patrol at the company’s gate,” the officer said.

Following the attack, the Edo State NSCDC Commandant, Agun Gbenga, visited the crime scene as well as the hospital where the injured victims are being treated.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that a combined security operation involving sister agencies has been launched, with operatives currently combing the surrounding forest in search of the assailants.
