The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has launched an investigation after the suspected abduction of some persons near Abacha Barracks bypass in Guzape, Abuja.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, disclosed this on Wednesday in a post on his X handle.
Makama stated that police intelligence sources had confirmed the incident, disclosing the incident occurred on February 25 at about 11:31 pm.
Makama, citing the sources, said officers discovered two abandoned vehicles – a black Toyota Prado Land Cruiser with registration number Abuja RBC 900 SF, belonging to Shagala Samuel, and a Honda Civic with registration number RSH 181 TH, upon mobilizing a patrol team to the scene.
It is being suspected that the occupants of the vehicles may have been abducted by the armed assailants.
“The responding team immediately combed the surrounding area and nearby bushes, but no contact was made with the victims or the perpetrators,” the source disclosed.
Makama further noted that security operatives at key entry and exit points in the FCT have been placed on high alert, while the abandoned vehicles have been recovered to the police station for further investigation.
“The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command has since intensified efforts to locate the victims and track down the culprits.
“The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, assuring the public that all necessary measures were being taken to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of the perpetrators,” the report noted.
