The controversial pardon has ignited varied reactions across Nigeria, with numerous politicians, organizations, and members of the elite urging that it be revoked.
In response to the presidential pardon of murder convicts, actress Kemi Afolabi took to her Instagram story on Monday to urge netizens to protect their lives at all costs.
She wrote: “Do not allow anyone to take your life, guard it with all your being. Be it in marriage, friendship, courtship or any kind of relationship”.
She shared the advice following criticism from the family of the late Bilyaminu Ahmed, who condemned the pardon granted to Maryam Sandain, a convicted murderer.
In 2017, Bilyaminu was murdered by his wife, Maryam Sandain, who was later sentenced to death by hanging in January 2020.
