A group, the Niger Delta Liberation Force (NDLF), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the appointment of Chief Dennis Otuaro as the new administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

NDLF, in a statement signed by its coordinator in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni zone in Rivers State, Comrade Kelly Rufus, expressed happiness over Otuaro’s appointment, describing him as a square peg in a square hole.

Rufus appealed to the new PAP administrator to address all lingering issues involving exclusion of some ex-agitators, and every other situation that has impeded the progress of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, upon his assumption of office.

He also appealed to youths, stakeholders and ex-agitators in the Niger Delta region to cooperate and give their maximum support to Otuaro to enable him to succeed in his new assignment.

The statement read in part: “We the members of the Niger Delta Libration Force – NDLF Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Zone, on behalf of our National Leader, High Chief Ambassador Sobomabo Jackrich, warmly felicitate with you, Chief Dennis Otuaro on your appointment as the New Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Program by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The news of your appointment did not come to us as a surprise considering your academic fit and track record of exemplary leadership when you served as a top-level executive of NDDC, and your various contributions to the growth and development of the Niger Delta.

“We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for your appointment, as we consider you a square peg in a square hole.

“Being a full blooded Ijaw son who has been around his people and know their various challenges, we are confident that you will use your new office to turn around the fortunes of the Presidential Amnesty Program and revamp it to realize its founding purpose and vision.

“We appeal that upon your assumption of office, you address all lingering issues involving exclusion of some ex-agitators, and every other situation that have impeded the progress of the Presidential Amnesty Program, in order to foster peace and development in the Niger Delta.

“The NDLF equally appeal to youths, stakeholders and all our fellow ex-agitators of the Niger Delta struggle and their followers to cooperate and give their maximum support to the new Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Program.

“Once again, congratulations as we pray God to grant you the wisdom and grace to function effectively in your new assignment.”
