A group, Renewed Hope For Youth Development Nigeria Connect has applauded Director General, Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, for providing and utilizing sustainable green energy that has taken over the energy spaces in Nigeria.
They also commended President Bola Tinubu for laying a formidable groundwork to address the myriad challenges facing the power sector in the country.
The National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Badarudeen Ribadu, gave the commendation in Lokoja on Tuesday while interacting with journalists.
According to him, before president Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed control and management of the country, the power sector had faced a lot of managerial challenges, lamenting that the power sector was seen by Nigerians as lucrative area for looting money.
Ribadu said, despite the whopping amount the previous administrations claimed to have expended on the power project, irregular and epileptic power supply reached endemic proportion across the country.
He noted that while Nigerians are still experiencing epileptic power supply, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has laid the groundwork to address the problem by appointing capable hands and creating working policies to overhaul the power sector will go a long way to demonstrate his political will to get things done in the ailing sector.
“One of the commendable efforts toward reshaping the sector is the appointment of Dr Abdullahi Mustapha, a technocrat, as Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN).
“This appointment complemented other efforts the president has put in unlocking and expanding the energy resources to make power available to the people and within a shot period of his appointment, Dr Abdullahi Mustapha has shown his mettle in activating, providing and utilizing sustainable green energy.
“As technocrat with proven administrative experience, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi is strategically and desperately working with the Ministry of Innovation, Science and technology, public and private sectors to create synergy for efficiency and effective service delivery” the group stated.
The group described Dr Mustapha as a political melting point for youth development, noting that aside his expertise in driving the Renewed Hope Agenda of president Tinubu, he has demonstrated his passion, spirit, energy, and youth enthusiasm to the public service.
“His innovative ideas that he has been investing in, is creating job opportunities for the youths. He has become the youth mouthpiece in advocating for the energy creativity, and resilience of the youth to be harnessed in moving Nigeria forward”
