Governor speaks on ‘impregnating BBNaija star’

The governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has broken his silence on the viral rumors of impregnating Big Brother Naija reality star, Nengi.

It was widely circulated on social media on Monday that the reality star had recently welcomed a child for the governor.

Speaking on the rumour, the Director-General of New Media to the governor, Dr. Samuel Kolawole Oredipe, in a Facebook post on Monday, 10th of February, 2025, described the reports as the work of the governor’s enemies attempting to distract from activities marking his 5th anniversary, Oredipe condemned the misuse of social media to propagate falsehoods.

He also noted that Nengi Rebecca Hampson has no personal relationship with the governor.

“Political enemies of His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, are at work again. What a wicked set of people spreading falsehood on a day the Prosperity Administration commenced activities marking its 5th anniversary.

“Nengi Rebecca Hampson has no personal relationship with the governor. Nengi has come out on social media to debunk the lies. This is a distraction, and some of us are very justified in the many reasons offered to regulate the use of various social media.”

Earlier, Nengi in a series of posts on X also dismissed the report.

According to her “Let me be clear, I’m not pregnant for any governor.” she posted.
