Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, has disowned a Facebook account bearing his name, describing it as unauthorised and fraudulent.
In a statement by his Senior Technical Assistant on Print and Digital Communications, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi, the governor said the purported account was created by imposters to mislead the public.
The statement said, “I wish to draw the attention of the general public to a fraudulent Facebook account falsely purporting to be the official page of His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Executive Governor of Borno State.

“I want to state that the said Facebook account, identified under the name “Engr Babagana Umara Zulum,” is not, and has never been, the official or authorised social media account of the Governor.
“The mentioned account is an imposter and is in no way affiliated with, endorsed by, or managed by Governor Zulum, his office, or the Borno State Government. Therefore, any communication, posts, messages, or requests originating from the account are entirely unauthorised and fraudulent.”
The statement further advised public to disregard any content published by the account, cautioning that the government would not accept any responsibility for any misinformation or damages incurred as a result of interaction with this impostor account.
“Correspondences, dealings, or transactions of any kind with the said account are strictly at your own risk. The Office of the Governor, his media team or Borno State Government accepts no responsibility for any misinformation, losses, or damages incurred as a result of interaction with this impostor account.”
“The public, associates and well-wishers of the Governor are strongly advised to disregard this account and any content it publishes.
