BAUCHI – Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has expressed sadness over the passing of former Lawmaker, Senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau, describing his death as painful and a great loss not only to his family and constituents but to the entire state and the nation at large.
The former Lawmaker died on Friday February 21st, 2025, following a brief illness at the age of 57. Lawal Yahaya Gumau was a former Senator who represented the Bauchi South Senatorial district in 2018 after the death of Senator Ali Wakili.

Media & Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado said that as a dedicated public servant and distinguished legislator, Lawal Yahaya Gumau served Bauchi South and Nigeria with unwavering commitment, integrity and a deep passion for the development of his people.
He said that his tenure in the National Assembly was marked by his advocacy for good governance, his pursuit of policies that uplifted his constituents and his unrelenting efforts in ensuring the betterment of Bauchi State.
“It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that , His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, on behalf of his family, the government, and the entire people of Bauchi State, extend his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of late Senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau, the people of Bauchi South Senatorial District, and the entire people of Bauchi state over this great loss.
“Senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau was a man of humility, honesty, and remarkable leadership, whose contributions to the progress of Bauchi State will forever be remembered. His impact on the lives of his people, his dedication to service, and his selflessness will continue to inspire generations to come.
“In this moment of grief, Governor Bala Mohammed urges his family, associates, friends, and the people of Bauchi State to take solace in the fact that the late Senator lived a life of service and left behind a legacy of dedication and patriotism.
