The administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in line with its commitment to strengthening security infrastructure and improving humanitarian resilience in conflict-affected communities, has entered into a strategic partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
This collaboration, facilitated through the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Reintegration, and Humanitarian Services, is aimed at consolidating peacebuilding efforts and enhancing community safety across Adamawa State.
As part of this initiative, the following key projects are being implemented:

1. Construction of a New Barracks for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC):
A modern barracks is being built to provide decent accommodation and operational facilities for personnel of the NSCDC. This will not only improve the welfare of officers but also boost their capacity to respond effectively to security challenges, especially in vulnerable communities.
2. Renovation of the Madagali Police Barracks:
Recognizing the pivotal role of the police in law enforcement and counter-insurgency operations, the government is renovating the Madagali Police Barracks. The project seeks to restore dilapidated structures, improve living conditions for officers, and enhance the morale of security personnel stationed in the frontline area.
3. Drilling of Boreholes in Wagga and Sukur:
To address the persistent challenge of water scarcity in rural communities, the administration is providing solar-powered boreholes in Wagga and Sukur. This intervention will give residents access to clean and safe drinking water, reduce the burden on women and children who trek long distances in search of water, and improve public health outcomes.
4. Construction of an Anti-Vehicular Trench in the Buffer Zone:
As part of measures to strengthen physical security against insurgent attacks, an anti-vehicular trench is being constructed in the buffer zone. The trench, measuring 2 meters deep and 1.8 meters wide, is designed to serve as a protective barrier, preventing the movement of hostile vehicles and reducing the risk of surprise attacks on local communities.
Through these projects, the Fintiri administration underscores its determination to rebuild conflict-affected areas, restore public confidence in government, and safeguard the lives and livelihoods of the people. The partnership with UNDP further reflects Adamawa State’s alignment with global best practices in post-conflict recovery and community stabilization.
