The strategic plan outlines key responsibilities for the Bureau, including conflict mediation, coordination of peace initiatives, promotion of social harmony, and development of early warning and response systems to prevent the escalation of disputes.
Governor Kefas emphasised the importance of structured peace efforts for the state, stating, “This plan is a blueprint for ensuring long-term stability and community engagement.”
He also acknowledged the support of international partners, noting, “We appreciate the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation, as well as the GIZ Peace Core Project, for their assistance in developing this strategic framework.”
The governor called on traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organizations, and residents to actively participate in implementing the plan.
Chairman of the Bureau, Rev. Dr. Innocent Solomon, described the launch as a milestone in Taraba’s journey toward institutionalising peace.
“We now have a roadmap that moves us from reactive to preventive conflict management,” he said, highlighting the state’s history of recurring communal and ethnic tensions and the need for a proactive approach.
