The Member representing Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency of Gombe State in the House of Representatives, Ali Isa JC, has flagged off a rural electrification project in Talase, the headquarters of Balanga Local Government Area (LGA).
The project, which seeks to link Degre, Talase, and other surrounding communities, aims to put an end to over seven years of electricity blackout in the area. According to some residents, the communities have been without electricity supply from the National Grid despite being the headquarters of the LGA.
Speaking during the flag-off, Ali Isa JC, who is the Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, expressed delight over the project, stating that the multimillion-naira initiative has put a smile on the faces of the benefiting communities.
“I am aware of the challenges and the problems the community have been facing, especially the issue of electricity, so I decided to make it my priority project and to ensure that these communities get their electricity restored. Today I am happy because the contractor is ready and we are here to introduce him to the community and to start the work immediately,” JC said.
“With this project, businesses that have shut down will have the electricity for them to be back and running, our hospitals and health facilities will start to function optimally and it will lead to economic development, and improve the living conditions of the people and the communities,” the lawmaker stated.
Speaking on behalf of the benefiting communities, the Bala-Waja, Alhaji Muhammad Danjuma Muhammad, commended the lawmaker.
He said, “This is what we have been waiting for, for a long time, earlier we thought it is not going to happen anytime soon, but now he has made it a reality and we are happy for that, because soon everybody in our community can turn on the switch and see light in their houses. Electricity will soon no longer be only for the rich who can afford generators and solar,” the royal father stated.
