GOC decorates senior officers, charges them to prioritise troop welfare 


The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army ( NA) Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, Thursday decorated senior officers who were recently promoted from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel at the 81 Division Officers’ Mess in Lagos.

Major General Mijinyawa congratulated the newly promoted officers, stating that promotion is a reward for dedication, discipline, and hard work.

 He urged them to pay close attention to the well-being of their soldiers and their families.

 He noted that true leadership is demonstrated by how well officers mentor and care for those under their command. The newly decorated senior officers include: Colonel NI Ota (Commanding Officer 1040 Division Workshop), Colonel KE Amedu (Acting Commander 81 Military Intelligence Brigade); Colonel II Peters (Acting Chief of Staff, 55 Signals Brigade).

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Colonel NI Ota expressed profound gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, and the GOC, pledging renewed dedication and commitment in their new, higher roles. He also thanked their families and supporting colleagues.

The event saw attendance from several dignitaries, including high-ranking officers and Brigade Commanders within the 81 Division, and concluded with a group photograph.
