

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, has charged the Division’s newly promoted senior officers to maintain unwavering commitment by providing purposeful and exemplary leadership to their troops.
The GOC gave the charge during the decoration ceremony of senior officers promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel and from Colonel to Brigadier General, held at the Hippo Officers’ Mess, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Major General Mijinyawa congratulated the promoted officers, describing their elevation as merit-based, earned through their dedication, discipline, hard work, and unwavering commitment to duty.
He noted that the Division’s success in meeting its mandate, aligned with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy, was a direct result of the relentless efforts of these senior officers.
The GOC urged them to see the promotion as a responsibility to continue demonstrating leadership by example; providing clear direction and mentorship to their troops and working towards earning their next ranks.
He also specifically appreciated the spouses for their support, which enables the officers to perform their duties effectively.

Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the newly promoted, Brigadier General IB Sheriff expressed profound gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, for finding them worthy of elevation.
He thanked the GOC and their respective Commanders for their strategic guidance and mentorship, pledging renewed dedication and commitment in their new, higher roles.
The colourful ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Commandant Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management, Maj Gen AC Adetoba; the Chairman House Committee on Marine and Blue Economy, Hon Abdussamad Dasuki; and other former senior military officers and well-wishers.
