A Ghanaian environmental activist identified as Abubakar Tahiru has finally set a new world record by hugging about 1,123 trees in one hour.

The Ghanaian activist who grew up in a farming community in a town called Tepa in Ghana embarked on this record to promote environmental awareness.

Abubakar’s record attempt took place at Tuskegee National Forest, one of the four national forests in the Timber-rich state of Alabama, USA.

According to the environmental activist, he developed a keen interest in nature and its conservation due to the area he grew up in.

According to Guinness World Records, the activist hugged 1,123 trees in the space of 1 hour with an average of 19 minutes per tree.
