Get To Know The Woman Your Partner Has Become After Childbirth

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has offered an honest perspective on postpartum depression, encouraging men to recognise and embrace the changes women undergo after giving birth.

In a post shared on Instagram on Saturday, Njoku defined postpartum depression as “mourning the death of the girl you once were and learning to embrace the birth of the woman you are becoming.”

She highlighted that motherhood brings profound physical, emotional, and mental changes, emphasising that partners need to adapt to the transformation it entails.

“Motherhood is as real as it gets.

“So, to truly love the mother of your children, stop trying to revive the girl she once was.

“She is gone. Instead, get to know the woman she has become,” Njoku wrote.

The Rok Studios founder, celebrated for her candid views on family and gender dynamics, also shared a light-hearted message for men, urging them to embrace and appreciate the transformations in their partners.

“So, my dear men, look at the bright side: you get to love ‘different’ women at different stages of your marriage or relationship.

“Brothers, nature has given variety all along. Enjoy!” Njoku added.

Her post has since generated significant online engagement, with many followers commending her for highlighting the emotional journey of mothers and the importance of empathy in relationships.
