Governor Simnalayi Fubara of Rivers State has expressed his willingness to pay any price, including vacating office, for peace to reign in the state.

Fubara, who has been in a running battle with Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), stated that he could not let his personal aspirations jeopardize the peace of the people.

Daily Trust reports that despite several efforts to resolve the crisis, including an intervention by President Bola Tinubu, developments around both gladiators indicate that all is not yet well.

Speaking as a guest in a recent interview with AIT, Fubara expressed his genuine love for the residents of Rivers State, while emphasizing that his interest in resolving the crisis was not for personal gain but for the well-being of the state.

He said he embraced Tinubu’s intervention in the interest of the people of Rivers and not out of fear or pressure.

“If leaving this position is what is needed to bring more peace to the state, I can even tell them to come and take it. It is not about me. Definitely, I will go, but Rivers State will still remain,” he stressed.

He also mentioned that his ability to restrain himself in the face of crisis, even when he had the power to act, demonstrated maturity.
