Inspects 19.7km Buguma–Abalama–Tema–Degema–Abonnema Road Project
PORT HARCOURT — Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the ongoing Emohua–Ogbakiri–Egbelu Road Project, assuring that the road will be completed and delivered by December this year.
Governor Fubara gave the assurance on Tuesday during an inspection tour of two major road projects; the 9.7km Emohua–Ogbakiri–Egbelu Road, and the 19.7km Buguma–Abalama–Tema–Degema–Abonnema Road, which includes seven bridges both being executed by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.
Speaking after assessing progress on-site, the Governor commended the people of Ogbakiri for their exceptional cooperation with the construction company, describing them as one of the most supportive host communities in the state.
“In fact, let me commend the people of Ogbakiri,” Governor Fubara said. “The contractor told me they are one of the best host communities. They have never given any trouble, they understand that this project is for their benefit, and government is about the people.”
Fubara emphasized the strategic importance of the road, noting that it provides a vital link for Ogbakiri and adjoining communities to the East–West Road, one of the state’s busiest economic corridors.
“We came to inspect one of the projects we started before the state of emergency. This road is very important because it connects Ogbakiri people to the East–West Road with ease,” he explained.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to timely project delivery, the Governor assured residents that the road would be ready for use by the end of the year.
“I want to assure the good people of Emohua and Ogbakiri that, by God’s grace, before the end of December, this project will be completed,” he pledged.
The Governor was accompanied on the inspection tour by Dr. Chidi Lloyd, Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, and officials of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.
