Deji Adeyanju has fired back at Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi following a defamation lawsuit filed against him by Obi’s legal team, led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Alex Ejesieme.
In a fiery Facebook post on August 28, 2025, Adeyanju ridiculed Obi’s demand for a retraction, labeling him a “religious bigot” and a “fraud parading himself as a messiah.”
Adeyanju’s post referenced the lawsuit, which accuses him of making defamatory statements against Obi.
He claimed that Obi’s legal action stems from his refusal to back down from earlier criticisms.
The activist also alleged that his legal team had served a retraction notice to an associate of Obi, identified only as Serah, for defamatory remarks against his wife, prompting her to seek Obi’s intervention.“I laughed so hard,” Adeyanju wrote, dismissing Obi’s legal move. “I can’t wait to meet him in court finally.”
He further accused Obi of hypocrisy, citing a past instance where Obi allegedly called activist Omoyele Sowore a “blackmailer-in-chief.”
The lawsuit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeks to address Adeyanju’s alleged damaging statements made on social media and public platforms.
While Obi’s camp, through Ejesieme, emphasized protecting his reputation, Adeyanju’s response suggests an escalation in their public feud.
The case is yet to be scheduled for hearing, but with both figures commanding significant followings, it is poised to draw intense public scrutiny.
Neither Obi nor his legal team has responded to Adeyanju’s latest remarks as of August 28, 2025.
Deji Adeyanju’s Facebook post:
“Just got this letter from Peter Obi the religious bigot demanding a retraction from me. I laughed so hard. I can’t wait to meet him in court finally.
“A fraud parading himself as a messiah. This same guy called the great Sowore a blackmailer-in-chief.
“We served his little errand girl Serah a letter to retract all her defamatory publications on Monday against my wife & she ran to the leader of the mob for help. Can’t wait to meet him in court.”
