Four herders killed, one injured in Plateau – Daily Trust


Four herders have been killed and one other injured in Fili village, Doemak district, in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Herders in the area told Daily Trust that the incident occurred while the victims were grazing animals.

Saeedu Abdurrahman, treasurer of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Qua’an Pan, confirmed the incident to journalists in Jos on Thursday.

He stated that the attackers targeted the victims and fled without taking any cattle.

He further explained that while they were burying the victims, the gunmen attacked the mourners, who were rescued by security guards escorting the bodies to the cemetery.

Shanono Muhammad, a relative of the victims, also spoke about the incident, saying, “Four herders were killed, including a young boy who had joined them to learn about cattle rearing. The herders were grazing on Tuesday evening when they were intercepted and killed.”

The spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, Major Samson Zhakom, had not responded to inquiries from our correspondent at press time.
