Disturbed by lack of adequate skills especially among students of tertiary institutions, a non-governmental organisation known as ” Our future foundation ” have lunched training for students in 18 tertiary institutions across the six geo political zones in the country.
Speaking at the lunch of the programme at the Madibbo Adama university yola ( MAU) on Tuesday, the Executive Director of the foundation, Barrister. Elkpa Stanley Ekpa, expressed concerned that public service delivery in Nigeria is not as efficient as that of the private sector which should not be so hence, the need for the training on skills and global best practice.
He explained that the training which is targeted at tertiary institution students will equipped them with skills, global best practice and provide them with many opportunities to realised their potentials in various sectors such as public service, civil service, creative enterprises among other fields of human endeavours.
According to him, the training will be conducted in 18 campuses across the six geo-political zones of the country, and at the end of the programme all the benefiting students entrepreneurs would be given start up grants and mentorship opportunities.
Ekpa further expressed concerned that over the years the country has focused on leadership training mainly for elected and appointed government officials leaving behind civil servants who are the engine room of policy implementation.
Also speaking, the special adviser to Governor Ahmadu umaru Fintiri on ICT, E- Governance and policy, Dr. Hammanja Ahmed Adamu, urged Adamawa youths to leverage on such opportunities to improve themselves and engaged in productive ventures in their chosen fields of endeavours to enable them contribute their quota to the development of their society.
