Hundreds of children at St. Paul African Primary School 1 and 2 in Agbado, Ogun State, received a heartwarming surprise on International Book Giving Day (February 14), thanks to the House of Rammah Foundation. The foundation donated books, school shoes, water bottles and other accessories to underprivileged pupils, bringing smiles and much-needed resources to the community.

The donation, which took place at Community Primary School, Ijoko, was met with enthusiastic cheers from the children. Many of them held a book for the first time, eagerly flipping through the colorful pages of their new storybooks. Teachers and parents looked on with admiration, witnessing the joy and excitement of the young recipients.

Risikat Adeola Adisa, Executive Director of the House of Rammah Foundation, emphasized the transformative power of books in a child’s life. “Education is the foundation of a successful society, and books are crucial to that journey,” she stated. “We want every child, regardless of background, to have access to quality learning materials. Our presence here today is to encourage reading and inspire these children to dream beyond their circumstances.”

The foundation has a history of similar projects across various states, focusing on schools in low-income communities with limited access to books. Adisa explained, “Books aren’t just for schoolwork; they open up a world of imagination, creativity, and knowledge. By giving these children books, we are investing in their future.”

Head teachers and teachers expressed deep gratitude for the foundation’s initiative. Mrs. Otu, Head Teacher at one of the schools, noted, “Many of our pupils come to school without books or proper uniforms due to financial constraints. This donation is invaluable, not only for the children but also for us as teachers. It significantly eases our burden when pupils have the necessary learning materials.”

Beneficiaries like Desire, Olamide, Deji, and Ayomide shared their excitement about receiving new shoes and books. “I am very happy!” exclaimed one student. “I love reading, but I didn’t have books at home. Now I have many, and I will read them with my younger brother.”

While celebrating the success of the event, the foundation stressed the need for continued support to improve education in underserved communities. Adisa called on individuals, corporations, and government agencies to partner in supporting educational initiatives. “This is a significant step, but we can achieve so much more together,” she urged. “Every child deserves access to education, and it’s our collective responsibility to ensure that no child is left behind.”
