Promising forward and former VSO Academy standout, Olalekan Abdulsalam, has officially joined Shooting Stars SC on a two-year contract ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The 20-year-old striker caught the attention of fans and scouts alike during his eye-catching performances at the ValueJet Cup in Ikenne, where he impressed with a series of solo goals while featuring for the Oluyole Warriors in pre-season.
His flair, agility, and goal-scoring instincts have already earned him high praise from newly appointed head coach Aweroro, who sees Abdulsalam as a vital piece of his squad rebuild.
Abdulsalam will wear jersey number 35 for Shooting Stars as he begins the next chapter of his football journey in Ibadan, with fans hopeful he can replicate his pre-season form when the competitive fixtures begin.
“This is a dream come true for me,” said Abdulsalam.
“Elevating my career has always been my goal, and I’m grateful to Shooting Stars for this opportunity. I’m ready to give my all and help the team achieve success this season.”
His rise from the VSO Academy to the NPFL is a compelling story of determination and raw talent. The academy, led by Victor Otabor and his son, Viv Solomon-Otabor, a professional footballer himself, continues to build a reputation for nurturing top-tier talent.
Speaking on the transfer, Victor Otabor expressed his pride in Abdulsalam’s progression:
“I’m happy for his move to Shooting Stars. I believe he will have a great season and prove himself in the NPFL.”
Shooting Stars, one of Nigeria’s most historic clubs, will be banking on Abdulsalam’s energy and eye for goal as they push for a successful campaign. His signing not only strengthens the squad but also underscores the club’s commitment to investing in young, exciting talent.
With the new NPFL season around the corner, all eyes will be on Olalekan Abdulsalam as he looks to make an immediate impact in Ibadan and beyond.
