Former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Commends Nile University of Nigeria’s Holistic Excellence During Courtesy Visit – Daily Trust


On August 28, a delegation from Nile University of Nigeria, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dilli Dogo, FNAMed, paid a courtesy visit to the former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

The purpose of the visit was to officially invite His Excellency Dr. Jonathan to Nile University’s 13th Convocation Ceremony, scheduled for November 19 and 20, 2025.

During the meeting, Prof. Dogo expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Jonathan for consistently exemplifying servant leadership, sacrifice, and humility in everything he does, stating that his immense contributions to unity and peace in Nigeria and indeed Africa cannot be overemphasized.

He also shared the University’s mission of delivering world-class education that equips students with the skills to thrive globally.

Highlighting some of the University’s recent milestones, the Vice-Chancellor noted Nile University’s recognition by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) as the third best performing university in Nigeria at the 5th (2025) National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Awards (NATAP-M).

He also emphasized the global recognition of the University’s MBBS Medicine and Surgery programme by the General Medical Council (GMC), United Kingdom, which allows Nile MBBS graduates to apply directly for the GMC’s Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) test and subsequently register to practice medicine in the UK— without requiring individual qualification assessments.

In his remarks, Dr. Jonathan praised Prof. Dogo’s leadership and commended Nile University for its commitment to holistic excellence— not only in academics but also in character-building, innovation, and global competitiveness.

He noted that such standards are critical for Nigeria to develop institutions capable of competing with leading universities worldwide. The former President also expressed delight at the convocation invitation, affirming his willingness to attend, subject to his schedule.
