Former boxing world champion Ricky Hatton has been found dead at his home in Manchester at the age of 46.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that officers responded to a call on Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside, at 6:45 am on Sunday, where Hatton’s body was discovered. Authorities said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Hatton enjoyed a glittering career, winning 45 of his 48 professional fights during a 15-year run. He captured world titles with memorable victories over Kostya Tszyu and Jose Luis Castillo, though he later suffered high-profile defeats to Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

The British star last fought professionally in 2012, losing to Vyacheslav Senchenko in Manchester. He later returned for an exhibition bout against Marco Antonio Barrera in 2022.

In July, Hatton announced plans for yet another comeback, with a scheduled middleweight fight against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai on December 2. The proposed bout was set as a professional contest, though questions remained over whether it would be officially sanctioned.
