Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state said the state is on track to realise at least 1.2 million bags of rice from the ongoing harvest at the state-owned 3,300-hectare Jangwa rice farm in Awe Local Government Area (LGA).
The governor stated this during an inspection tour of the farm, expressing satisfaction with the progress recorded so far.

Governor Sule disclosed that about 600,000 bags have already been harvested in the last two weeks, adding that the exercise is only halfway done, and is expected to continue for another two weeks.
“You know, we started harvesting a little over two weeks ago, and we still have about two more weeks to finish.
“At the moment, just about 50 percent of the farm has been harvested. By the time they complete the remaining portion, Nasarawa state is expected to realize over 1.2 million bags of rice,” he said.
He noted that the projected output would significantly boost the state’s economy and strengthen its position in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The governor also revealed that the state government has commenced transportation of the harvested paddy to milling centres in Abuja and Lokoja, Kogi state.
According to him, preparations are underway for the launch of the state-branded rice, NASACCO Rice, in Abuja after the milling process is completed.
“So far, so good. We are happy with the progress and with everyone involved,” Governor Sule added.
Sule said the state government is into partnership with SILVEX International, a leading rice processing company, and is expected to lead the increased rice production in the state.
