‘Food hubs, free birth delivery’ – Sanwo- Olu announces economic interventions for residents
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, has announced a series of interventions to support residents of the state amid a raging economic hardship worsened by rising inflation in the country.
On February 15, Nigeria’s data bureau said inflation rose to 29.9 percent in January 2024 – up from 28.92 percent in the previous month.
This was triggered by a food inflation rate of 35.4 percent, jerking up prices of staples exponentially.
Speaking during a media chat with journalists on Thursday in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu said his government will open up Sunday markets in at least 42 markets to provide succour to residents.
