Perennial flooding occasioned by overflow in the banks of river Forcados have sacked many schools in the Riverine communities in Burutu, Bomadi, Patani , Ughelli South, and parts of Udu Council Areas of Delta State.
School authorities worried by the development have appealed to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to allow pupils , Students and teachers to embarked on flood brake pending when the flood rescid to avoid catastrophy.

Findings by Independent revealed that both Primary and Secondary schools at Abare community, Agoloma, Bulou Angiama, Aven, Adubo , Uduophori communities in Patani Local Government area are affected by the flooding .The development have prompted schools authorities to notify the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Patani field offices to endorse request for flood brake.
Also schools in Burutu Council area are not spared by the flood as both parents and school authorities are notifying the Chief Inspector of Education to direct clossure of affected schools and grant period for flood brake. Some of the flood affected schools are Tuo Primary school, Tuomo, Ekumu Primary School Ekogbene, Zuokumo Primary school Ojobo, Gbesa Grammar school, Ojobo, Fada Edeh Primary school Edegbene, Saituro Primary School Enekorogha, Obodo Primary School Ayakoromo, Ayakoromo Grammar school, Ayakoromo, Bodakeme Primary school , Bikorogha.
90% of Primary and Secondary schools in Bomadi ,Ughelli South and Udu local areas of Delta State have also added to the lists of schools under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education requesting for a brake as result of the 2025 perennial flooding.
According to these schools authorities, the learning environment now possess threat to both teachers and students and to avoid any form danger , the Ministry should without delay allow for a flood brake which last three weeks, they appealed.
