#FixPolitics Mourns Pa Adebanjo As Champion Of Equity

1 week ago 23

#FixPolitics has described the leader of Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, who passed on at the age of 96 years, as a champion for justice and equity.

He passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, February 14, 2025, at his residence in Lekki, Lagos State.

A statement at the weekend by the Chairperson, Frank Nweke II, #FixPolitics noted that the nonagenarian’s relentless advocacy, fearless voice, and steadfast commitment to accountability in governance made him a beacon of hope for countless individuals who longed for a fairer and more just society.

#FixPolitics stated, “It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the passing of Chief Ayo Adebanjo, a towering figure whose unwavering dedication to justice, equity and constitutional reform has left an indelible mark on our nation.”

Before the 2023 elections that brought President Bola Tinubu to power, Pa Adebanjo had advised Nigerians to vote wisely, warning that by the time the consequence of making the wrong choice would befall the country, he would be enjoying himself in his grave.

With his Yoruba kinsman among the top contenders to the top seat, he urged the South West to give the South East, who had never ruled the country for over 60 years, a chance at the Presidency.

Throughout his distinguished career, according to #FixPolitics, Chief Adebanjo stood on the frontlines of the fight for democracy, never wavering in the face of adversity.

He added, “His courage of conviction and principled leadership inspired generations, reminding us all that true change is born from determination, integrity and an unyielding belief in the rights of all people. Whether in the halls of government, the public square or the hearts of those he touched, his influence was both profound and transformative.

“His legacy is one of resilience and sacrifice – a reminder that the pursuit of justice is not a fleeting endeavour but a life-long commitment. As we mourn this great loss, we also celebrate a life lived with purpose, passion and an unshakable belief in the power of the people. His voice may be silenced, but his ideals will continue to guide us in the ongoing struggle for a better, more equitable society.”

On behalf of the entire #FixPolitcs community, the chairperson extended deepest condolences to the family, friends and all those who were inspired by the deceased’s leadership.

“May his memory serve as a source of strength, and may we honour him by continuing the work to which he dedicated his life. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” stated.
